ABOUT

Jeffrey Todd-Voyten is a New England-based electroacoustic composer and classically trained vocalist. His compositional output primarily deals in combining generative sound with improvisatory response through combinations of electronic and acoustical instruments, with a special interest in modular synthesizers as a medium to explore the continuum of human agency and machine intervention. When using his own voice, Jeffrey explores the exoneration of the bel canto voice from its bodily and acoustical limitations. His treatment of the human voice as raw sound both plays upon preconceived cultural notions and at times sterilizes the voice beyond recognition.

Originally from Salisbury Maryland, Jeffrey earned his bachelor’s degree in Voice Performance at Salisbury University and received an MM in Performance in 2021 from the University of Kentucky. He is now working on a MM in composition as well as a DMA in Voice Performance while offering private instruction in voice and music theory. Jeffrey’s music has been featured at Electronic Music Midwest, SEAMUS, NYCEMF, ICMC, Salisbury University, Bucknell University, the University of Kentucky Art Museums, and other venues across the states.
